                    All of our meal bars, both sweet and savory, are 100% organic, gluten-free, soy-free and vegan. Plus, we never add sugar. Every package of wild boar jerky you enjoy removes more of this destructive, invasive species from the environment.

We strive to have a net-positive impact on the environment by using compostable packaging, diverting our waste from the landfill, and using locally-sourced ingredients whenever possible.

Sweet Bars


Wild Boar are an invasive species in the United States. They were introduced over 500 years ago by the Spanish, but recently their populations have expanded rapidly and they now cause $1.5 billion in property damage every year. This makes them a sustainable meat source which need to be controlled, so we might as well eat them. Their meat is also far healthier than farm raised meat, and we think, more delicious.

our story

We are a group of friends who met at the University of Colorado over a mutual love for exploring the outdoors. While sharing camping and rock climbing adventures, and cooking large group meals, we discussed world problems ranging from a food system heavy on fats, sugars, and processed foods, to the overabundance of disposable packaging, and the increasing loss of natural habitat. Despite pursuing individual careers across the globe, we have now reunited to pool our various skills into Founding Foods.

After graduating, our founder, Rachel Irons, and a friend decided to hike the Pacific Crest Trail, fueled by the food that she had prepared in advance. Along the trek they often craved savory snacks, but there weren’t many options available. Rachel decided that instead of hiking the entire Trail, it would be more worthwhile to create an ecologically net positive company to deliver delicious and healthy snacks, and that she could create a yummy savory energy bar that would be a better convenient snack than the typical sweet bar. No surprise as Rachel was usually the chief chef and instigator for our group dinners at the University, and everyone loved her culinary creations!

Our goal as an ecologically net positive company is to leave the natural environment as healthy as it was before your order. We strive to achieve this by sourcing our ingredients from local farms in Colorado and invasive species, by using compostable packaging, and soon, we’ll start investing in land conservation.
